“From February 3rd to July 27th of 2017, I thru-hiked the Appalachian Trail with my husband, Logan, and our Siberian Husky, Pneuma.

Before we started from Springer Mountain in Georgia, I had high hopes that I would somehow discover my deepest desires and uncover what I wanted to do with the rest of my life somewhere along the way from Georgia to Maine.

After a month or two, I grew very discouraged because I still wasn’t feeling any direction or any newly awakened passion in what I should “do” or who I should “be”. But on July 14th, while I was standing on top of the Saddleback Range in Southern Maine, the vision for The Trailing Collective hit me all at once. I think that I had been coddling the dream of it in my heart for many miles at that point, but it wasn’t until my eyes were gazing at the seemingly never-ending space around the mountaintop I was on that I was able to verbalize it.

The only thing my eyes could focus on while I was standing on the summit of Saddleback Junior was space- even though there were mountains, trees and trails as far as the eye could see. In that moment, I knew that the space I was seeing was somehow for me to do whatever I wanted in and that was a moment above all others on the Trail that impacted me the most.

Space; that’s what I long for The Trailing Collective to be for all people, makers or not.

A space to be creative, inspired, encouraged and challenged. A space that truly makes dreams become realities.

The Appalachian Trail provided me with so many amazing things-memories, inspirations, dreams, friendships, ideas, space-and I hope to mimic that in all things this small business may grow into!”

-Morgan Greenhaw, Founder and Creator

The ultimate vision for The Trailing Collective extends way beyond a website where individuals can sell and/or buy unique artwork, but we do have several “next steps” planned out that will happen as life permits. Ultimately, we long to see The Trailing Collective grow into a physical space where makers can make, teach or display their artwork and where all people can gather in a community of inspiration. Before that happens, we hope to expand our website to house other makers of all kinds. Photographers, printmakers, painters, sewers, woodworkers, ceramicists and more — we long to have something for everyone. We know we have a long way to go, but we are excited to be on this journey with each and every one of you!

Morgan is the brain, heart and hands behind The Trailing Collective.Though she has been a creator since a young age, she discovered her fierce passion for art while in college at the University of Alabama at Birmingham and chose to pursue degrees in both Art Studio and Psychology. Besides art, Morgan enjoys any activity that gets her outside, flowers, family and trying new things.

If you are a dreamer, a maker -no matter the medium- you could find your face in this line-up, your products in our shop and you could be the one who helps our dream become a reality. In the next calendar year, we plan on expanding and extending our space to other creatives who are in need. If you feel like this could be you, send us a message and lets collaborate!
